September 2026 Special Issue: From OLC Conferences to the Scholarly Record

Online Learning Journal is pleased to announce the publication of its September 2026 Special Issue: Select Papers Presented at Recent OLC Conferences.

Each year, OLJ's September special issue highlights research presented through Online Learning Consortium conferences, extending the exchange of ideas that begins within the OLC conference community into the scholarly literature. This year's issue features five studies demonstrating the breadth and depth of current scholarship in online and digital learning.

The issue examines the roles and support needs of online program coordinators; alternatives to traditional threaded discussions for authentic online learning; transparent expectations for generative AI through an extension of the TILT Framework; the development of the OLC Quality Scorecard for K–12 Blended Learning; and a pre-COVID research baseline for online STEM education in higher education.

Collectively, these studies offer both research contributions and actionable insights for educators and practitioners working to improve learning in digital environments.

The special issue also reflects the important relationship between OLC's conferences and Online Learning Journal: conferences provide a space to share emerging research, exchange ideas, and build scholarly conversations, while OLJ provides an opportunity to develop and disseminate that work through peer-reviewed publication.

We invite readers and researchers to continue that conversation at OLC Accelerate 2026, November 16–19 in Orlando, Florida, and to consider both OLC conferences and Online Learning Journal as venues for sharing future research in online, blended, and digital learning.
